My Story

Despite the number of books for Swedish I’ve acquired on my shelf over the past few years, I’ve never learnt Swedish yet, although I did spend a day there in Malmö after taking the bridge train across when visiting Copenhagen and made this Learning Swedish in Sweden video!

I think I’d like to learn a little of a Scandinavian or Nordic language at some point and Swedish looks like it would be a great option for that.

Seeing as I don’t know much about Swedish myself, I roped in the help of Bartosz Czekala for the reasons for this video. Bartosz runs the website Universe of Memory, where he shares tips not only on language learning, but specifically for enhancing your memory too. Very cool.

Resources

Duolingo – has a full free course in Swedish. Of course, as with any resource, be sure to use a mixture and not get stuck in a Duolingo rut!

LearningSwedish.se – from the Swedish Institute. A clean and simple online resource to get you started.

italki – as always, if you want to speak with people, you gotta practice that bit. italki is a great place for that with both tutors and language exchange partners online. (Get $10 free when you join with that link!)

Bartosz also runs the website Language Links Database and honestly, his Swedish list of resources over there is second to none. That’s your best starting point.
