#IGLC May Prompts!

That time has come again for a new month of prompts for the Instagram Language Challenge! This month we have the lovely Shannon Kennedy of Eurolinguiste to thank for curating the prompts and image. I think she’s done a great job and I’m really excited for this month’s #IGLC!

Instagram Language Challenge #IGLC May Prompts Lindsay Does Languages blog

If you’re new to the Instagram Language Challenge, let me give you a quick recap.

1. You pick your language.

You will probably notice that the prompts are in English. This is because the majority of readers of this blog speak English as a native language and are learning other languages.

So the idea is that you can use these English prompts to inspire some new vocabulary in the language (or languages) you’re learning.

However, if you’re learning English, feel free to use the English prompts to learn English vocabulary!

2. The words on the list are just prompts.

This means that you don’t have to look up that exact word in the language you’re learning. You can take this prompt and interpret it as closely or as loosely as you like.

But you may also notice there’s only 28 prompts! Whaaa?! This is to allow for the inevitable super busy days, and to give you a chance to catch up and review at the end of the month.

3. Post a photo or video on Instagram.

Once you’ve decided on the new word you want to learn, you take a photo or make a video (Instagram videos are 15 seconds long – perfect for a little language practise) and post it to Instagram.

There’s no right or wrong way to do this. You won’t be banished to the Kingdom of Doom if you “do it wrong”. You know why? Because you can’t do it wrong!

It’s all about learning. And if you make a mistake, the community are really friendly and if the right people find your photo, you’ll get some help to correct it. Yay!

As long as you use the hashtag #IGLC in the description so I can find it and join in with what you’re learning, then that’s it! It’s that simple.

4. Rather useful apps.

Here are a few useful apps for editing your photos and adding text – perhaps adding your new vocab to the images to make your feed even more useful!

A Beautiful Mess (Android)
Party Party!
Phonto (Android)
Bamboo Loop (Android)
