Women In Language is a live online event for all who love language.

From language learners to teachers.
From monolingual to multilingual.
From passion to PhD.

This is an event for everyone.

The difference? All our speakers are women.

As we head towards our third event 17-20 September 2020, in this blog article, I want to highlight some of the benefits for language learners, showing you how Women In Language 2020 will help your language learning.

See you there!

#1: Improve Your Accent

One of the questions I get a lot that I never really have an answer for because it’s not my area of expertise is this:

How can I get a native-like accent?

I may not be an expert on this, but Eliza Simpson is.

Eliza will be presenting on day one of Women In Language with Accent Acquisition and Your Vocal Instrument.

Here’s what she has to say about the session…

#2: Boost Your Listening (bonus – with your friends!)

A new feature of this year’s Women In Language is our Dream Teams.

This is a chance to hear from multiple speakers on the same topic, at the same time, during the same presentation!

One of our Dream Teams is what we’ve dubbed our Italian Dream Team: Silvia Perrone, Elfin Waters & Barbara Rocci.

These three Italian teachers all host a podcast together Con Parole Nostre and will share their session How Listening to Friends Talking Will Make You a Better Speaker of Italian (or Any Foreign Language).

Here’s what they have to say about it…

#4: Increase Your Speaking Confidence

Ever felt like shyness is holding you back from speaking that language confidently?

Danae Florou of AlphaBeta Greek is here to help with her presentation at Women In Language 2020, Embracing Shyness When Speaking a Foreign Language.

Here’s what she has to say about it…

#5: Embrace Your Inner Child

Devy Baseley is bringing us a presentation to address the age old question: do children learn languages better than adults?

If you think they do, then Devy’s session, How to Learn a Language like a 5-Year-Old, will show you how you can embrace your inner child and follow their lead.

#6: Increase Your Motivation

How many languages have you studied for a day, a week, a few months before they fizzle out?

Angela Pegarella’s presentation at Women In Language shares some tips for this. It’s called Self-awareness and Staying the Course as You Learn a Language, and here’s what Angela has to say in her own words:

#7: Find Your Voice

María Ortega Garcia & Jessica Tefenkgi Ruelle form our Mindfulness Dream Team at Women In Language 2020!

Their session together, Awakening to Yourself Through Languages, is all about finding and trusting your voice in the languages you’re learning.

Here’s how they describe it…

#8: Enjoy The Music (+ learn from it!)

We’re delighted to have Desta Haile of Languages Through Music here to share what she’s known best for: How to Learn a Language Through Music.

As someone obsessed with finding new songs in languages other than my own, I can’t wait for Desta’s presentation. She describes it as a talk on how to use music to build your vocabulary, improve pronunciation and gain insight into the history and culture of the countries that speak your target language.

#9: Connect to Your People!

Self-study Doesn’t Have to Be Lonely is Mari Polyglot’s presentation title for Women In Language 2020.

Before even talking about Mari’s session, it’s worth sharing just how insanely friendly every Women In Language always is!

We may be online, but the bonds formed at Women In Language are long-lasting. Just look at Bec and Penny who met at Women In Language 2018 and have since gone on to found Language Lovers AU.

Here’s how Mari describes this presentation:
