Aloha! We’re set for a scorcher this week here in Milton Keynes. By scorcher, I mean potentially into the 30s! I’m talking Celsius here not Fahrenheit. 30 degrees in Fahrenheit is barely 1 degree Celsius, right? Yeah, I’m talking Celsius. I hope. My winter coats are packed firmly at the back of the cupboard right now and I have no plans to dig them out anytime soon.

So being potentially 30+ degrees ‘n’ all, it’s definitely close to July, which means I’m just in time to share July’s prompts for the Instagram Language Challenge. Woop. This month I’ve worked with Cristóbal who runs the blog Krzysiek. He’s very friendly so I’m sure he won’t mind you popping over and saying hey.

Cristóbal kept up last month’s idea originated by Kerstin of Fluent Language of video challenges. I’m excited about this! I could barely speak for 15 seconds in June without coughing and spluttering all over the place (more on that in yesterday’s post) so the video challenges were tricky for me this month. I’m looking forward to join in properly again with those!

And as always, just in case you’ve forgotten how it works or what it’s all about, here’s the lowdown.

What the heck is the Instagram Language Challenge?

  • The Instagram Language Challenge is a chance for you to creatively practise your languages each and every day.

  • Each month a new prompt list is revealed to get you thinking of new vocabulary, expressions, and sentences in the language(s) you’re learning.

  • There’s just 28 prompts to give you some catch up days because, hey, we all get behind from time to time!

  • From this prompt list, you take a word each day and think outside the box as much or as little as you’d like. You don’t have to directly translate the prompt! It’s your language learning, you decide what’s relevant to you.

  • Once you’ve picked a new word, take a photo or video on your smartphone and upload it to Instagram with your new language and the hashtag #IGLC in the description.

  • You can even take a photo of the written language, or edit it with a jazzy app like this one to get the new language on the image itself. Snazzy, huh?

  •
You in? Awesome. Here are the prompts for July.
