Unless you live in Liechtenstein or somewhere else tiny and close to lots of borders and languages, most of us have to make a decision when we travel (and by us I mean crazy language obsessed folk who want to learn all the languages, like, yesterday.)

Either to travel to somewhere we know the language and get the chance to use what we’ve learnt in real life. Or travel to somewhere where the language is new to us, giving us a chance to learn something new.

And then when you speak multiple languages, well, what do you do then? How can you possibly pick one language location over another?!

Kris Broholm has an accidental solution. And I’m pretty excited about it.

In April next year, he’s hosting the first Polyglot Cruise!

1 week, 3 countries, lots of fun!

Just in case you need another reason to learn a language, Polyglot Cruise 2020 is happening very soon! Click through to learn more ➔

I’ve never been on a cruise before so had lots of questions when Kris invited me to speak at the event. Because I thought you might have the same questions too, I invited him onto my YouTube channel to chat with me and share more about the Polyglot Cruise.

Here’s a brief text version of some of the key points from the video…

Where does the cruise go?

The cruise ship starts and ends in Barcelona, a city with two languages (Spanish and Catalan), so instantly an interesting place to begin for language learners.

We move overnight and arrive the following day in Mallorca. The next day, Malta (Maltese – language number 3!).

Then we’ve got three stops in Italy (Italian – language 4!). In fact, one of those stops is in Sicily – so language number 5!

Finally, we sail back to Barcelona.

You can view more details on the full schedule here.

Are we the only ones on the cruise?

Nope! The boat holds up to 3,500 people.

That means there’s also LOADS to do. Think theatre, cinema, bars, casino, art gallery(!), arcades, shops, library, recording studio(!), and even space to workout.

So, you know, just in case all the language stuff wasn’t enough, you won’t be bored.

How many presentations?

To make the Polyglot Cruise as enjoyable, relaxed, and family-friendly as possible, Kris has planned a schedule to allow you time to enjoy all the things you want to too.

There are 5 speakers at the event: me, Kris Broholm, Kerstin Cable, Judith Meyer, and Olly Richards, with one speaker and panel each day.

And there’s only a maximum of 100 tickets, so it’ll be a really intimate event with a chance to speak to everyone there – something that’s often trickier at bigger events.

I’m excited! How do I sign up?

Kris has very kindly given me a discount code to share with you. Woohoo!

When you sign up here, use the code LINDSAY to save $50 (that’s my affiliate link as well so you’ll be supporting Lindsay Does Languages too.)

Looking forward to joining you on the very first Polyglot Cruise in 2020.
