Language Review for January + Goals for February

I was pleasantly surprised at how much I wanted to learn Russian.

Let me explain. Normally when I learn a new language, I like to keep other languages in the background quite prominently as an alternative option so I don’t get bored of the new language. I dunno, it’s just how I’ve always found things.

However, so far, I’ve found myself wanting to do Russian over other languages pretty much all the time – to the point that I’ve consciously added in time each day that I’ve earmarked for “other languages”!

LingQ

LingQ is working really well for me. I tend to use this in the morning when drinking my tea at the end of breakfast. Will keep going!

Drops

Drops* is also working well and I’m pretty much doing a topic a day and sometimes spreading one topic across the two days of a weekend. Working well like this so I’ll keep it up.

Live lessons

Haven’t had any live lessons yet. This is intentional as I want to ensure a good foundation before my first lesson.

I’ve been reaching out to Russian teachers this week so will hopefully make this happen soon.

Three old books on my shelf!

My three old books are working well. I love having a physical resource to refer to and work with when I’m “tech-ed out” at the end of the day!

Language Life Prompts

Did you hear about Language Life?

One part of Language Life is the weekly prompts. These can be used for writing or speaking, and work at any level – yes, even when you’re a complete beginner.

I’ve been using the Prompts to produce my first Russian sentences, which is very exciting!
