Language Learning Audit: Everything You Need To Know

What Is a Language Learning Audit?

A Language Learning Audit is something that you can do at regular intervals or when things get really clogged up and you need a little shake up.

It’s a chance to pause, review what you’re doing, and make any changes you need to going forward so you can keep learning languages quickly and easily.

Compare it to clearing out your wardrobe. You can do just one drawer, or you can tip it all out at once and go through everything in a big pile on the bed!

It might be that you just need a Language Learning Audit for one area of your process, or you may be ready for a full overhaul.

In the free email series, we’ll go through the three things to consider to make sure your Audit is serving you well.

Why Do a Language Learning Audit?

You probbaly love learning languages. It’s a hobby you wish you had more time for to be honest. And depsite your best intensions, it never quite feels like you’re doing enough.

If that’s the case, there’s something misaligned and it’s a good moment to pause and do a Language Learning Audit.

Why?

Because this will help to keep your motivation high, to rekindle the joy and play with your languages and make it fun again, and to become the best multilingual version of yourself without it taking over your life.

You haven’t done this yet because no-one said you should. So instead, you kept plowing on with the same textbook and app that only kind of works and is only interesting sometimes.

If you don’t do a Language Learning Audit, you risk falling out of love with languages and not becoming fluent in multiple languages.

How Do I Know I Need A Language Learning Audit?

You can do a Language Learning Audit at any time, but it works best when you’re feeling stressed, bored, overwhelmed, unsure, or tired when it comes to your languages.

If things aren’t going as you’d hoped, you’ve plateaued, or you’ve hit a dead end, those are all good moments to do a Language Learning Audit.

But even when things are going well, a Language Learning Audit can act as a great preventative measure! Once a month or once a quarter is enough to regularly check in and adjust what’s needed.

This is why in Language Life, you submit your Monthly Reviews for Personal Feedback from me, so we can course correct in the moment rather than wait until it’s too late.

How Will a Language Learning Audit Make Me Fluent Faster?

When what you’re spending your time on aligns with your goals, you become fluent faster. It’s that simple.

And it’s far too easy to get distracted, get caught up in other demands of life, and lose track of where we were with a language.

If we leave things there, we’re risking our language skills stopping stale.

However, when we regularly take a moment to pause and do a Language Learning Audit, what we spend our time on is always aligned with our goals.

So, we become fluent faster. Sweet!
