It’s warmer, the days are getting longer, and we’re getting closer and closer to heading to the Isle of Man and Wales for our first Language Stories filming! Time to set some language learning Manx and Welsh goals for March 2020…

Coronavirus, snow, and a huge pile of work threatening to get in the way of my language learning! Here's my language learning goals for March 2020 to combat it all. ➔

Language Learning Review for February

I didn’t set any specific goals for February, just to focus more on Manx and Welsh (over Cornish and Scottish Gaelic) now that we know we’ll be filming in those places first.

This worked well, although I’m finding myself spending more time with Manx than Welsh! This isn’t a problem as we’ll likely be back to the Wales (and meeting Welsh speakers) later in the year. However, with Manx, we have just one trip there planned, so I’d like to focus on this a little more.

The end of February has fallen apart when it comes to language learning though! We went to Bologna during half term week (3rd week of February), and came back to panic about coronavirus and Italy, which led to the 4th and final week of the month not being overly productive on the language side either.

I had to spend more time on the phone to NHS 111 and less time learning Manx and Welsh! I got told Tuesday morning we’d need to self-quarantine for 14 days, and then Ashley got told that we’re fine when we rang an hour later. So it’s been a very confusing week!

Language Learning Goals for March

To avoid floundering now I’ve got the languages set clearer, I’m going to set firmer goals for March as there’s just six weeks until we head off so March is an important month for learning Manx and Welsh!

MANX

Manx is my primary focus as we’ll only be visiting once (because, you know, it’s an island!). My plans below are ambitious but possible without any coronavirus worried filled weeks like this last week of February has been!

WELSH

With Welsh, we’re likely to visit a second time in the south later in the year for other Language Stories interviews. So I’m spending less time on it for now and focusing on the audio course.

March 2nd – March 8th:

Say Something In… – Level 1 Challenge 4

March 9th – March 15th:

Say Something In… – Level 1 Challenge 5
